  • Biography

While possessing a PhD in pure mathematics (Indiana University, 1971) I have moved to applied mathematics (starting three journals along the way - Cryptologia; Collegiate Microcomputer; and PRIMUS) and am currently committed to changing the way we teach differential equations to a modeling first approach. Accordingly, we are building a HUBZero web site for SIMIODE - Systemic Initiative for Modeling Investigations and Opportunities with Differential Equations at www.simiode.org. I have taught at liberal arts colleges (Albion College, Brown University), engineering institutes (Michigan Technological University and Rose-Hulman Instititute of Technology), and military academies (United States Air Force Academy and United States Military Academy) where I have used this approach successfully in all settings.
