Biography
Justin is a Ph.D. student in the School of Engineering Education and
a Master’s student in the School of Civil Engineering at Purdue. He
earned his Bachelors of Science from Purdue University in the School of
Civil Engineering with an environmental emphasis and philosophy minor in
May 2011.
He is the president of the Engineering Education Graduate Student
Association, the director of technology and events with Engineers for a
Sustainable World, a member of the Institute for P-12 Engineering
Research and Learning, and a member of the American Society of
Engineering Education, Chi Epsilon, and Purdue’s Global Engineering
Program. His primary research interest is understanding the role of
empathy and care within engineering practice. Secondary interests
include conceptualizing indigenous forms of engineering, promoting
sustainability throughout all of engineering education, and using
scaffolded learning techniques to situate engineering ethics education
in an online environment. He is designing a course on Engineering
Worldviews which he will teach in the summer or fall of 2013.
