Biography
Ali Roumani received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Queen’s University, Ontario, Canada in 2007. He is currently working as Computational Research Scientist at Discovery Park, Purdue University. His previous work and current research interests include:
• Bioinformatics solutions and extending applications and database systems functionality to support biological applications.
• Information retrieval, data analysis, knowledge discovery, and collaborative filtering in recommender systems.
• Nearest-neighbor search in high dimensions, efficient algorithm design and performance analysis, random simulation-data generation, and linear algebra techniques.
• Scientific grid computing, including resource discovery and allocation in computational grids, and mobile-user services discovery in publish/subscribe paradigms.
• The effectiveness of Web 2.0 technologies and virtual communities in advancing research and education.
