Research interests include numerical weather prediction from mesoscale to planetary (climate) scale phenomena. Currently using Weather Research and Forecast (WRF) model for the hurricane problem over the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico basins. Also conducting regional mesoscale simulations over the Lake Victoria region of Africa in support of malaria transmission research. Future work includes downscaling climate simulations using WRF for Nested Regional Climate Modeling (NRCM). Also conducting research in 4-dimensional variational data assimilation (4D-Var) for the tropical cyclone vortex initialization problem.
