About the Group
Public Description
This group describing installation of Database Technologies for the Hub Platform is now retired.
It will remain accessible since it was used to install databases and components for initial versions of the NIST Chile Database, the NCIP Standards Portal and the AFRL Research Projects Database.
---------------------------------------------------
The data technology used to build collaborative databases on HUB platforms was designed and implemented by the database research group led by Ann Christine Catlin, Senior Research Scientist in Academic Technologies at Purdue University. Database components can only be established on a HUB with the permission of the database research group, and user databases can only be created in collaboration with the database group.
The data technology consists of the following components:
- Databases component to create and manage the infrastructure and content supporting database configuration, applications and backup. This component is also used to 1) create/update/manage database tables for data collection and 2) create/update/manage data views for data exploration.
- Dataviewer component to support the access, exploration, search, visualization, analysis and export of data in the databases
- Forms component to create and process web-forms used to contribute data to the databases
- Photogallery component to browse, search and download image (or photo) collections associated with the databases
- Collections component to process data file repositories and their metadata
