Is it possible to delete vz/root/1,2, or 3?

One thing we found with HUBzero 1.0.0 from scratch is the /var partition has filled up really fast.

There’s a lot of duplication in

/var/lib/vz/root/1
/var/lib/vz/root/2
/var/lib/vz/root/3
/var/lib/vz/root/5

Is it possible to delete some of those directories or would that break things?

Those are used by containers. The number at the end is the container number. If the container X isn’t running, /var/lib/vz/root/X should be empty or almost empty. Be careful of deleting things in there because a lot of directories are bind mounts. You could end up deleting things elsewhere, e.g., in the container template. After a reboot, all the bind mounts created for containers are gone and it is then safe to delete things in /var/lib/vz/root. You can also run the script /etc/vz/conf/X.umount to remove the bind mounts for a particular container that isn’t running. To find which containers are running, use the command “vzlist”.
