PBS Commands in the Workspace

Given that a HUBzero “workspace” is a chrooted OpenVZ container — using their venet device, rather than veth — what do I (can I?) have to do, in order to interact with an existing, external PBS (Torque) server from within a workspace, using standalone PBS-client commands (which were correctly installed while chrooted in /var/lib/vz/template/debian-5.0-amd64-maxwell)?

Is the secret in iptables? (/etc/hubzero/firewall_on in non-chrooted hub host) Is it an exercise in OpenVZ networking? (venet-to-veth and/or bridging)

Something else? TIA!
