What configuration works best to give the workspace and tools access to network?
Basically, I need to write hub apps and tools that can access the network from inside of VNC. The default install of release 1.0 doesn’t seem to allow this so I was hoping that others with more networking experience than I might have an answer. I don’t have much experience with iptables so I am not sure what modifications would need to be made to /etc/hubzero/firewall_on or firewall_off to make this access work. Basically I would like to extract some images through a URL.

You should be able to pull images from an external network into a container running a tool by default. I’ve tried wget and ping from a workspace and was able to access the outside world without any modifications at all using the 1.0 release.
