Internal error in function fgOpenWindow
Hi guys,
I tried to install pymol, a material visualization software on our hub. After the installation, I run it on the workspace and got the following error. “freeglut (pymol): ERROR: Internal error in function fgOpenWindow.”
I looked at these links and found some people had same problems. http://sourceforge.net/p/freeglut/bugs/132/ pymol-users@lists.sourceforge.net/msg10253.html" rel="external">https://www.mail-archive.com/pymol-users@lists.sourceforge.net/msg10253.html
some people said adding export LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 to the execution script, I tried, not working. some people said reinstall the graphic card driver. not working either.
anyone got the same problem here?
thx!

You will probably need to use an older version of pyMol to work around this issue. The X/VNC server used by current versions of HUBzero are based on a fairly old X11 server which has very limited OpenGL software rendering support.
Using
export LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1
will help some applications but as newer applications get released they expect more OpenGL capabilities than the current system can provide.
In HUBzero 1.3.0 the X/VNC server is being replaced by one based on a more modern platform and has greatly improved OpenGL software rendering support. This will be released by the end of September 2014.
