How to share a directory with our virtual machine image?

We’re using VMware player version 6.0.1 build-1379776 and the Virtual Machine image for release 1.1. We cannot find VMtools in order to install it. The cdrom iso cannot be mounted — it seems to be nonexistent.

However, when we use the Virtual Machine for release 1.2, the cdrom iso does mount properly and we are able to install VMtools.

We need to install VMtools so that we can share a folder between our virtual machine and our host operating system for testing purposes.

Please advise the best way to proceed.

I don’t think VMWare Player provides the VMWare Tools CD image, at least it didn’t used to. We typically use VMWare Workstation, you can download it and get a free 30-day demo license I believe. I’m not aware of any difference between the 1.1 and 1.2 HUBzero VM images in this regard.
