How to deploy web application with HubZero framework?
I want to deploy a Java based web application build using Vaadin (https://vaadin.com/home). This a web UI framework. The normal deployment strategy would be through a web-application server such as Tomcat or Glassfish. Does Hubzero have the infrastructure to deploy web applications as user tools?

Well, probably not in a way that would be useful. HUBzero ‘Tools’ are Linux applications run inside a lightweight virtual machine like environment. The HUBzero CMS then serves up a VNC client to provide a remote display into that environment. So any application you can run under Linux can potentially become a tool subject to various user interface limitations.
There are other ways you could integrate a java application with HUBzero, but nothing particularly straightforward.
