If you are install using Debian 7.0 then there are no compatible hubzero-openvz packages. If you use the 6.0.7 release of Debian then you will have the hubzero-openvz packages. If you want to have workspaces on 7.0 then follow these directions to install openVZ on the system.
http://openvz.org/Installation_on_Debian
Skip the “system configuration” do the “Tools” portion and then before you reboot run the command “hzcms configure openvz —enable” and this will set all the sysctl.conf settings for you. Reboot and you should have a fully working 7.0 version with openVZ.

And if you are trying to use a 32-bit platform, that really won’t work (missing packages). HUBzero is only supporting 64-bit x86 platforms right now.

I am trying to install on Debian 7. Starting with a fresh install of Debian 7, I followed the directions at http://openvz.org/Installation_on_Debian to install the openvz kernel. (I didn't see this Q&A first, so I did not do things in the order you suggested.)
I *did* change the /etc/sysctl.conf file as per the "System configuration" section and also installed the tools as per the "Tools" section. I rebooted which defaulted to the non-openvz kernel so I changed my /boot/grub/menu.lst to default to the openvz kernel, then rebooted again. This worked wonderfully to boot me into the openvz-enabled kernel.
Then I proceeded with the Hubzero 1.2 installation process starting with relevant portions of https://hubzero.org/documentation/1.2.2/installation/Setup.linux. Everything has been installing without much problem until I got to the openvz installation step (https://hubzero.org/documentation/1.2.2/installation/Setup.openvz). The command “hzcms configure openvz —enable” does not work for me. The errors are as follows:
# hzcms configure openvz --enable
Enabling openvz
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/hzcms", line 3555, in
args.func(args)
File "/usr/bin/hzcms", line 2496, in _openvzConfigure
openvzEnable()
File "/usr/bin/hzcms", line 2537, in openvzEnable
grubfh = open(grubfn,'r')
IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/boot/grub/grub.cfg'
Even after those errors, I can run the vzlist command without a problem.
# vzlist
Container(s) not found
Is this OK??? What are the changes that the "hzcms configure openvz --enable" command makes? Can I make them manually? Should I reset the sysctl.conf file back to the original, reboot into the normal debian 7 kernel, and then run the "hzcms configure openvz --enable" command?
