How do I change the hostname for my Hub?

I’m kicking the tires on V 1.2 of the Hubzero VM.

In the past (V 1.1.2) I have changed my hub hostname successfully by changing the following files:

/etc/hosts
/etc/hostname
/var/www/example/configuration.php ($sitename)
/var/www/example/hubconfiguration.php ($hubshortname; forge URL, Name, and Repo URL)

and inside the vz container:

/etc/hosts (to match /etc/hosts outside the container)

Using the V 1.2 VM, I have done the above. When I then Registered a new user, that user’s home directory is listed as /home// on the administrative back end. On the front end, for example, an error is displayed on trying to retrieve the disk space and display it under My Sessions: Storage for that user.

Any suggestions on how to properly change the hostname? Must I manually move users’ directories after doing so? Is there a step I have missed?

I do notice that, even after changing the hostname back (to “example”) by reverting the changes listed above, new users get created using the altered hostname. There are entries containing the altered hostname in database tables jos_extensions (params column) and also jos_wishlist (title columnn) that reference the altered hostname, and persist even after changing the hostname back.
